Is your payslip right? Photograph it. Find out in five minutes if your tax code is wrong, whether you're being over-deducted — and whether you're owed money.

PaySense reads the payslip or CIS statement, checks the tax code, NI, deductions and CIS rate against the current rules, flags what looks wrong, and gives you the exact words for HMRC or your employer.

Photograph it

A clear photo of the whole payslip, statement or tax code letter. Add a second page if the deductions run on. Nothing is shared with the issuer or your employer.

  • Tax code decoded — what 1257L, BR, 0T, K-codes and W1/M1 actually mean, and whether yours is right for your situation.
  • Deductions checked — tax, NI, student loan plan, pension, and anything unexplained. Umbrella payslips: whether employer NI and holiday pay are being handled properly.
  • CIS subcontractors — 20% or 30%? Deducted from materials? Statement missing? What your likely repayment looks like.
  • Money you may be owed — over-deducted PAYE, unclaimed mileage, tools, uniform, marriage allowance — up to four years back.
  • The words to use — a phone script for HMRC and a message to your employer or contractor.

Why people use it

Millions are on the wrong code

Emergency codes after a job change, BR on a main job, K-codes from years ago — they quietly take too much every month.

CIS at 30% is money sitting with HMRC

Unregistered subcontractors lose 10% extra on every invoice and most never claim it back.

Four-year window

PAYE overpayments and expenses can be claimed back for the last four tax years. After that they're gone.

Straight answers

Is this tax advice?

PaySense is an information service: it explains your payslip and the rules that apply and points you to the fix. It doesn't file anything for you. If you want it handled, the report shows how.

What happens to my payslip photo?

It's used to read the document and produce your report, then discarded. The extracted figures and your report are kept so you can reopen the link.

I'm on CIS — will this tell me my rebate?

It will tell you whether a repayment is likely and roughly why. The exact figure needs your full year's income and expenses — which is where a tax agent comes in.
